Finding Shoe Gold

January 4, 2018

Mules are EVERYWHERE and I have been so jealous. As an amputee, I've said it before and I will say it again, I have such a hard time when I can't partake in shoe trends because they don't work for my prosthesis.

So of course, I've been so sad that I haven't been able to wear mules because they don't have a back and won't stay on my feet. I especially love the super simple, black, leather mules with the cute little buckle at the top. My favorite are these Steve Madden ones. They have similar ones at Target for less than $20 right now, too.

But thanks to Torrid, I don't have to miss out anymore. They are selling a mule-esque loafer that has a back and you better believe I snatched up a pair like it was gold. (Note, they are on sale for 25 percent off right now, so get them now!) They look almost identical to these two shoes and when paired with jeans, a sweater and my leather jacket I felt so fierce and so stylish. Over the years I have definitely learned how to adapt to my surroundings. And I love finding new ways to be adaptable when it comes to fashion. All it took was some patience.

However, I'm here for anyone who also finds mules to be hard to walk in because they don't have a back. Below, I listed a couple loafer options that have the same look as the Steve Madden mules I tagged above.

DSW Enzo Angiolini Lianne Loafer:

Famous Footwear's Franco Sarto Palmer Loafer

Or, if you aren't feeling black, I found some cute loafers with a little more of a structured feel at Target. The greatest part is they come in four different color options so I'm all about that! They are sold in a light brown, the slate blue that is pictured, a light green or a light gray.

Target's Journee Collection Rossy Classic Loafers:

I'm not sure about the shiny leather on the shoes from DSW or Famous Footwear, but I like them because the buckle detail is also black meaning they can go with both gold and silver accessories, if you are one of those people who likes to match their metals.

I love to hear stories of how people see a trend they love, but maybe have to adapt it to fit their body. Or maybe it's taking a trend you're scared of trying out, but you do it anyways. Comment with your stories below!
